Japanese substrate of volcanic origin, with good water retention, very light and with an acidic pH of around 6. Essential for azaleas, an acidophilic species where it can be used 100% or with a small percentage of kiryu or akadama to delay degradation. It can also be used in small proportions in other species that require increased soil acidity.
