An elegant rectangular planter, or choho-bachi, that faithfully evokes the classic forms of ancient kowatari. It is distinguished by the understated band (himo) that runs along its central body, lending balance and character to the piece.. Handmade by Yukizou Nakano, Gyozan, Tokoname. Distinctive drainage holes, a hallmark of the kiln. Sealed and signed. It is made of Akebono clay in one of its darkest shades, which enhances its chromatic depth and underscores its refined and timeless presence.
Handmade bonsaipot by the renowned Tokoname artist, Yukizou Nakano, who passed away in February 2026. He worked at Gyozan bakery, founded in 1972, and was the creator of the famous akebono pastry. He was the husband of Eiko Nakano and the son-in-law of Yuuji Nakano.
