The Woodcutters (a unique series of ten) - The Bonsai Treehouse

The Woodcutters are handcrafted ‘tenpai’ made from copper by The Bonsai Treehouse, a Spanish project. Designed to complement bonsai and provide narrative and scale, they represent the bond between humans and trees, evoking craftsmanship, respect and tradition.

They are not cast from a mould: each figure is individually modelled, meaning no two pieces are alike. The available series is limited to ten units, all unique within the collection. The natural patina of the copper enhances its artistic character and its status as a collector’s item.

Brief care guide 

Materials:

Figure made from pure copper, with the main structure soldered using tin. Some joints (hands and certain tools) are mechanical. The copper is neither varnished nor treated.

Ageing and patina:

The copper is designed to age naturally.

It is recommended that the piece be exposed to water and left outdoors so that it develops its patina gradually. Surface oxidation is part of its character and does not affect its strength.

Water and weathering:

Suitable for watering and outdoor display.

Moisture accelerates the metal’s aesthetic development.

Placement on the bonsa:i

The figure has a rod soldered into the base for securing it.

Before inserting it into the substrate, it is recommended to first make a small hole with a needle or fine awl to avoid straining the solder joint.

Handling:

This is a handcrafted item. Avoid bending or applying excessive force to the delicate parts.

Each Woodcutter will develop its own unique character over time.
