White glazed bonsai pot decorated with a blue landscape in the Sometsuke style. It comes from the Toen kiln in Seto and bears the maker's mark.
Toen (陶艶, Touen) is a pot factory whose pieces were frequently sold in Tokoname department stores, leading many to believe this location is their origin. However, some sources indicate that the maker is from Seto. These are low-priced, mass-produced pots made during the 1990s and 2000s, whose value has increased since then. This kiln is sometimes also listed under the name Toen Totsuya, and many of its pots are sold unsealed.
