Bonsai pot JTA8859 SANPOU
Elegant rectangular unglazed bonsai container by the renowned Tokoname potter Sanpou. It features a refined chōhō-bachi rim and is crafted from a clay body clearly inspired by the Akebono tradition. The design incorporates a gaku-iri panel, in which gaku refers to the “frame,” while iri means “inside.” This compositional element creates an elegant framed effect, enhanced by a raised braided relief that adds depth and refinement, as well as by the distinctive U-shaped notched corners, which lend the piece a sense of movement and character. The characteristic drainage holes, together with the nature of the clay body, recall the work of the Gyozan kiln.
