Bonsai pot JTA8816 KOYO KOUICHIROU

Rectangular bonsai pot, unglazed, made of grayish clay with a rough texture. A work by the renowned Tokoname ceramist, Aiba Koyo Kouchirou. Koyo Toen. It has a small repair on one of its legs, done with metallic paint alluding to the Japanese technique of kintsugi, imitating a gold finish.

Handmade pot by Aiba Kouchirou born in 1944, the son of a potter whose family had specialized in plant pots and tableware, the kiln founded by his grandfather. In the early 1970s Aiba Kouichirou built a new kiln, changed the name to Koyo Toen, and began making bonsai pots. This kiln was known as "The Kouyou Pottery Garden" based in Tokoname. 

He is the father of the kiln's current director, Koyo Juko, and the husband of Koyo Kouso.
