Bonsai pot JTA8813 SENKOUEN

A bonsai pot made in Tokoname by Senkouen. The piece features a bas-relief composition depicting children playing, a motif with a clear Chinese tradition symbolizing joy, continuity, and prosperity. Accompanying the scene is an inscription in kanji characters: 流雲窯製, which can be interpreted as "made in the kiln of floating clouds." This is an ancient kiln mark. Both the richness of its relief decoration and the design of these functional elements indicate that this is not merely a utilitarian piece, but rather a work with a strong aesthetic intention. Taken together, the form, decoration, theme, and construction details allow it to be identified as a Japanese reproduction of an antique Chinese Shinwatari pot.
