Bonsai pot JTA8772 SENKOUEN

A small shohin-sized bonsai pot, crafted by Hanno Souhei at the Senkouen kiln in Tokoname The fineness of its clay and the patina acquired over time give it a distinctive character, enhanced by its open lip and the gaku-iri or gaku-men style frame. The term gaku refers to the visible "frame" on the pot's body, while iri means "interior," creating an elegant framed effect that adds depth and distinction to the design. It has a very slight imperfection on one of its legs.

Hanno Souhei, born in 1940, developed his career as a researcher in the field of ceramics, collaborating with various workshops and specialized centers. In 1961, he spent a year in-depth studying raw materials and glazes at the experimental engineering laboratory of the Nagoya National Research Institute. This formative period proved decisive and significantly influenced his approach to ceramic production in subsequent years. In 1977, he began wholesale production, adopting "Senkouen" as his brand name. Since then, Hanno Souhei has remained the company's main technical expert, based in Tokoname.
