Bonsai pot JTA8699 EIRAKU

A beautiful bonsai pot. Rectangular, unglazed, and with a choho-bachi lip, signed by the late Tokoname artist Itsuo Takeuchi. It features a gaku-iri or gaku-men style frame. The term gaku refers to the "frame" visible on the body of the piece, while iri means "interior," creating an elegant framed effect that adds depth and distinction to the design. The piece is finished with striking cloud-shaped feet, or komo-ashi.

A kiln named Eiraku, like the ancient coins issued during the reign of the third Ming Dynasty emperor, Yongle (1402–1424). These coins were exported in large quantities to Japan during the Muromachi period, and circulated de facto during the Edo period, popularizing the name. The creator of this Tokonameceramic workshop, now in its extinction, is Itsuo Takeuchi.
