Akadama 2 litre medium grain size bucket (3-6 mm approx.).

Akadama is a substrate that the Japanese have been using for years for the cultivation of their bonsai. As it is granulated, it allows the bonsai to drain perfectly without waterlogging, thus preventing root rot and making the roots more aerated.

It is a neutral pH product that does not contain organic matter, but it retains the water and nutrients that we provide the plant with very well.

Although it is not essential, it is advisable to pass it through a sieve to remove the dust and prevent it from clumping, as well as to obtain different grain sizes.

In general, it is the basic substrate used when the tree is already in a bonsai pot and is usually accompanied (in a smaller proportion) by another harder substrate that allows the mixture to degrade less and increase its durability.
